For dentists
Local SEO for dentists. Get found on Google and ChatGPT.
People pick a dentist on practical grounds: do you take my insurance, are you taking new patients, can I get in soon, and will you be gentle. Those are exactly the questions they now ask ChatGPT or Gemini. If your Google profile and website leave them unanswered, the assistant names a practice that answers them.

What your customers ask AI
Questions like these decide who gets the call. Does ChatGPT name you, or someone else?
- “Which dentist near me takes Delta Dental and is accepting new patients?”
- “Who is a good family dentist in Seattle for kids and adults?”
- “Can you recommend a dentist in Atlanta who is good with nervous patients?”
What Google and AI look at for dentists
Insurance plans named, not implied
"We accept most insurance" can't be matched to a question about a specific plan. A plain list of the plans you're in network with can.
New patient status
Assistants try to answer "accepting new patients" directly. If your website and Google profile never say it, you look like a practice that might be full.
Treatments listed one by one
Cleanings, crowns, implants, Invisalign, emergency visits. Each treatment you offer, written out on your site and in your Google services, is something a question can match.
Reviews about the experience
Patients write about waiting times, friendly front desk staff and feeling at ease. Those words help Google and AI answer questions about anxious patients or families with kids.
5 fixes you can make this week
- Add an "Insurance we accept" section to your website with each plan by name, and say whether you also see patients without insurance.
- Add your online booking link to the appointment field on your Google profile, or your phone number if you book by phone only.
- Write "Accepting new patients" on your homepage if it's true, and update it when it changes.
- Add your main treatments to your Google profile's Services list, including emergency visits if you offer them.
- Upload photos of your reception, treatment rooms and team, so new patients know what to expect when they walk in.
Tip: on Google, pick “Dentist” as your primary category, or a more specific one if it fits better. On your website, ask your web person to add LocalBusiness structured data using the schema.org type Dentist.
Getting more reviews, the right way
Ask at checkout or in your follow-up message after the visit, with the same short request and Google link for every patient, not only the ones who smiled. Never offer a discount, a free whitening or any gift for a review. When you reply to reviews, keep it general: don't confirm the person is your patient or mention any treatment, even if they did. In the US, patient privacy rules (HIPAA) apply to review replies too.

Questions from dentists
How should I reply to a bad review without breaking patient privacy?
Thank them, say you take feedback seriously and invite them to call the office. Don't mention their visit, treatment or records. A calm, general reply is safe and reads well to future patients.
Do I need a separate Google profile for each dentist in the practice?
Google allows individual practitioner profiles as well as one for the practice. Many practices keep one main profile and make sure each dentist is named on the website, so patients searching by name still find you.
Should I list prices on my website?
You don't have to. Many practices list price ranges for common visits, or explain how they handle patients without insurance. Even that gives assistants something concrete to share.
